How to - Braids for this Fall

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

If you’ve caught The Hills, you would know that LC has been sporting the asymmetric braid all season. Braids are pretty much a staple for Californians this fall. Bohemians Chic, braids have made a monster come back. Whether you’re catching coffee at the local Bean or getting ready for a night out, braids can give you and your outfit that extra oomph.  Free People rocks the “oh so care free” braids in this season’s catalogue. Added bonus, Free People created a how-to page matched with how-to videos.  For more details, visit Free People’s page

Featured Braids: The Knot Braid, The Fishbone Braid, and The Twist Braid

Monica from Free People shows us how to construct the Knot Braid

Keep in mind, these braids are more suited for women with long hair. If you’re like me and recovering from the Pbob, it may be better to let this trend slip by.

Louis Vuitton’s new Damier Graphite for men

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

What’s better than Damier Azur? Why it’s alter ego Damier Graphite. For those late bloomers who have yet to discover this awesome new men’s line from Louis Vuitton, Damier Graphite is an ultra masculine version of Damier Azur. Charcol and black, Damier Graphite’s design tantalizes any fashionista’s (male or female) desires.

The Damier Graphite premiers for Louis Vuitton’s Men’s 2008-09 Fall/Winter collection.

Topshop comes to the US - Free Kate Moss Shirt with purchase (US Only & while supplies last)

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

Finally Topshop is coming to the states. In Fall 2008, all that cute UK clothes readily available to us Americans. Actually, it’s only readily available for New Yorkers. Topshop will open their flagship store in SOHO, New York. No one can argue that Topshop has some seriously cute UK sty-lo. I especially love their jackets! Military, princess sleeves, trench, so many styles so little money. Don’t get me started on how much I adore UK fashion.

And as an added bonus, Kate Moss has launched her own line and decided to bless us with a free Starlight charity shirt. It’s FREE for the first couple of US customers (while supplies last). Unfortunately I’m not in the area, but New York fashionistas please help yourself.

Google Chrome - IE killer?

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

It’s no secret that over 75% of the market still uses Internet Explorer. They (as in the online media) say that Google Chrome has been labeled as an IE killer. Question is, does Google have the credibility to convince the average user to switch from IE and try Chrome? Aside from people like us (who are willing to download anything the all-mighty-Google releases) the average user may not be as daring and willing to adjust. Humans are a creature of habit. I must say, Chrome is pretty quick. Aside from faster page loads, I even notice my vertical scroll bar having greater sensitivity. Go Google!

Google Chrome Browser

Pros:

  • Faster Page Load
  • Simplified tool bar
  • Sleek User Interface
  • “Favorites” dashboard shortcut
  • Open source
Cons:
  • plugins? (I suppose this is a temporary con since Chrome is an open source browser)
  • Supposedly Chrome takes up more memory upfront
  • with every new application, there is going to be bugs
  • Sort of creepy that not only will Google be tracking our search behavior but they also our browser behavior
  • Not available for Macs or Linx (sorry Mac heads!)
Well I’m always an advocate of new tools and applications so it shouldn’t be a surprise that I’m typing this entry in Chrome.

*Warning* I do not advise anyone who is not willing to deal with “tech glitches” to download Chrome. Chrome is still in beta phase (testing).

Although Chrome has it’s charm, I do love my plugins in Firefox. Until developers build as useful plugins for Chrome, I’ll probabaly be switching between the two.
